TIME TERMINATOR PAGE-15; DEALS WITH DISAGREEMENTS
By the time shone enters the cafe Eva was sitting near one of the table. Eva was a scientist in George’s group. She was excellent both in ability and look. Shone walked towards the table.
“Hi Shone, how was the day?”
“Nice, how about you?”
“Good, do you want a coffee?”
“Why not?”
But while sipping the coffee she was constantly thinking about something. And not at all noticing shone.
“Well Eva I wanted………..”
He paused somewhere in the middle.
” Where is George?”
“He went to the lab.”
“Oh, well I have some work in lab. OK bye.”
She went away without noticing the facial expressions of Shone.
George was busy in the lab completing some works. He was carefully putting some components of a small box. Slowly it started glowing and opened with a bright sphere in it.
“Whoa I made it.” He jumped with joy.
“What is it?
Suddenly Eva asked. But he never noticed her in the lab.
“Well it is a spherical reactor.”
“Is it?”
“Yes it could supply sufficient energy for a small settlement for few days from very little nuclear fuel.”
“This could be a great achievement.”
“Yes I knew it, and the cubic structure is made of alloy of titanium and borone, and ……”
Eva grabbed his hands, and came close to him.
“Actually I wanted to say you something.”
“Me? What is that?”
“That is…….”
“OK just say that. What is the need of formality between us? We are already working together for many years and we are good friends”
“Is that?”
Eva was more closer to George.
“I want you to be my partner in life also.”
“What…..”
George was little shocked.
“Yes I meant it.” Eva said with a glowing eye.
“But Shone? He needs you.”
“What? How could you say that? I didn’t see him in that way.”
“I also didn’t see you in that way.”
“George………”
Eva seem to be requesting.
“No I can’t.” George was not changed.
“Why?”
“I don’t want, simply I don’t want that. Is that enough?”
“Perfect, perfect George…”
She was almost at the brink of a cry.
“Eva but you should consider Shone.”
“Of course I will. Because it is our duty to fulfill the dreams of our dear ones. Even though you wouldn’t see me in that way…..”
Eva went out of the room wiping tears. George was feeling something heavy. He was almost torn into halves. He ran out of the lab towards Eva who was standing in the passage.
“Eva if I started a relationship with you I will lose one of my friends and I don’t want that. Don’t misunderstand me.”
“I was always understanding you correctly George. I know you are caring about your friends more than you. That is great.”
She went towards the cafe. But the scene was more mechanical.
“I was always caring about my friends….” He said loudly and laughed sitting on the arm chair. Lucifer had already gone out. He looked through the well furnished cabin. It was all filled with symbols off power. But suddenly his eye stuck on a photo. The photo on the wall right in front of Lucifer’s chair and which is of a lady. It was little decorated. A guard came towards him.
“Sir do you want any help?”
“No, who is in the photo?”
“Oh that is Mrs. Lucifer.”
Two drops of tears came out of his eyes hearing the answer. The beautiful face of Eva was chocking inside the glass frames. How will be the burning heat of the explosion felt to her? His mind was turbulent with many thoughts. But she still has the love in her eyes. The same pleasant smile like a cute little girl. But the dark background was swallowing her. He couldn’t look at that picture anymore. He walked out of the room with the guard.
“Reality is what we percieve.” Those words which he had said to Shone in the past echoed in his mind. But he was in a totally confused state. While walking back he was thinking about his last days in the laboratory. The days of disagreements and disappointment. At last he was expelled from there just because he was questioning the authority. Everyone was disappointed hearing that news. But the final decision was taken by one person, General Westwood, the chief of polar army at that time. And he also had something personal with George to do so.
It was a Friday. Everyone assembled in the court. Senior officers including Westwood was sitting in the pannel.
“So gentlemen we are starting our procedures.”
Westwood announced with a pause. There was only silence.
“This man violated the rule of military laboratory and army by his disagree in doing a project assigned by his senior officer.”
There was a pause.
“OK what you could say George?”
Westwood looked at him who was staring to the floor.
” I cannot simply do that. That weapon is good for nothing and totally against humanity”
“But you cannot actually say that. You are here to do that”
General was little angry while saying this. And after a pause George continued.
“So what do you think? Are you thinking that we are just slaves with big head? What are you thinking about scientific field?”
“Of course you are, and that is why we are funding for you. We don’t want to flourish science, we only want our weapons. OK?”
“Then I have nothing to say. You can proceed.”
He was standing in the court like a statue without any emotion or response. Westwood signed the elimination order and handed over to him. Everyone in the hall, including Eva and Shone was shocked and looking at him.
“But remember General if the God couldn’t save a system, he would manifest himself as the devil.”
General was little shocked hearing that.
“Then let’s wait.”
“No it will not wait for anything.”
He turned around and went to his room.
After packing his things a military vehicle carried him away from the laboratory. He could see Eva and Shone still looking at him. But he had nothing to say to them. He was deeply depressed. He closed his eyes as he don’t want to see anything.
In Lucifer’s bungalow John was still confused about the things happened in the last night. He was sitting on the bed and thinking about it. But couldn’t reach to a conclusion. That big tower, bright light, stranger, it was something like a puzzle. Kevine was still sleeping as it was the early morning. But he couldn’t sleep.
“This is going to be beyond our expectations. But how can we solve this puzzle?”
He whispered looking at the frozen ground.
“Hi Shone, how was the day?”
